Privacy Policy

Last updated August 1, 2026

This Policy describes what VoltaraNews collects when you browse the public site or when authorized operators use the newsroom — and how that information is used.

01Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how VoltaraNews collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our public site or when authorized operators use the newsroom. We aim to collect only what we need to run a reliable news product.

02Public browsing

You can read headlines and articles on VoltaraNews without creating an account. When you browse the public site, our servers may automatically receive standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring URL, and pages requested. We use this information to operate, secure, and diagnose the Service.

03Cookies and similar technologies

We use a limited set of cookies. The primary example is an essential session cookie used for authenticated newsroom access (named voltara_session). Public readers do not need this cookie to browse stories. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels on the public site. If that changes, we will update this Policy and the Cookie Policy.

04Newsroom and site settings

Authorized operators may sign in to manage feeds, sync stories, publish originals, and update branding (site name, tagline, colors, logo). Login credentials and session tokens are used solely to authenticate and protect that access. Branding settings and article data are stored in our database to render the site.

05Information you send us

If you email us or use a contact form that opens your mail client, we receive whatever you choose to include (name, email address, and message contents). We use that information to respond to tips, press requests, corrections, legal notices, and other inquiries.

06Third-party content and links

Aggregated articles may include images or embeds hosted by original publishers. Following a “View original” link takes you to a third-party site governed by that publisher’s privacy practices, not ours.

07How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

  • With service providers who help host, operate, or secure the Service, under appropriate confidentiality obligations
  • When required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the Service
  • In connection with a reorganization, sale, or transfer of assets, subject to continued privacy protections

08Retention

We retain server logs and correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary for operations, security, legal compliance, and dispute resolution. Newsroom session cookies expire according to their configured lifetime. You may request deletion of personal data you have provided by contacting us, subject to legal retention requirements.

09Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the Service, including signed session tokens for newsroom access and HTTPS in production. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong newsroom password and keep it confidential.

10Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise a privacy request, email contact@voltaranews.org. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.

12Contact

Privacy questions: contact@voltaranews.org. General contact options are listed on our Contact page.
